What is SEO copywriting?
SEO copywriting is a process that SEO professionals use to optimise a webpage for a particular keyword. It is primarily used on home, blog, service, and product pages, and SEO experts use it to create new content or optimise pre-existing content.
The process involves using various SEO tools to scrape individual text keywords used on competitors’ pages’ text that already rank on page 1 of SERPs for a keyword.
The software will then create a recommended list of keywords to include for a particular page to optimise it for a given keyword. This recommended list often ranges between 30 to 120 keywords. These text keywords are called ‘latent semantic indexing (LSI) keywords.’
SEO teams use SEO optimisation software to create content briefs for writers and grade content. It shows a score of 1 to 100, which indicates whether a current page (or new page) is optimised or needs further improvement.
What is our process for SEO copywriting?
At Apertif Agency, our SEO copywriting experts use a simple yet effective process for creating compelling content.
1. Keyword research
Using keyword research tools like Ahrefs and Semrush, we’ll identify keywords to target that fit within a brand’s broader digital marketing strategy and goals.
After completing keyword research, we’ll share this without clients and get confirmation that our clients want to target those keywords.
2. Content brief creation
Next, we’ll create a detailed brief with an article outline containing LSI keywords for a writer to use that will help optimise a page or article.
Then, we’ll perform a SERP analysis to identify gaps in content performing well on SERPs to look for ways to improve and create better content.
Afterwards, we share the content brief with our client to get their final sign-off and to see if they have any unique expertise and experience on the topic that could be added to the content brief to improve the content further.
3. Content is assigned to a writer
We’ll then identify an expert writer to write the content and assign it to them. A standard-sized piece of content usually takes a writer a couple of days up to a week to write.
4. Content review and editing
Once we have received a piece of content back from one of our writers, then an expert from our SEO content writing team will edit and review the content.
This also includes proofreading and grammar checking using tools like Grammarly Premium and fact-checking. Editing also covers things like language consistency, such as ensuring a piece of content does not use a mix of Australian and American English. But instead uses only one for uniformity.
Afterwards, we’ll review the content using SEO optimisation tools to verify it is sufficiently optimised. We’ll also perform other content checks, like checking for keyword stuffing, checking for plagiarism, and ensuring that the content does not use AI.
5. Content is delivered to you, our client
We deliver the newly created content to our client, and the client undergoes an internal review process and can provide feedback and request revisions. Once they’re satisfied, the content will go live.
Why are we better at creating content?
Content has changed greatly in the last couple of years. AI tools like ChatGTP have made it easier and faster to create generic content. But this does not necessarily mean that the content is better.
To combat the surge in AI-generated content, Google rolled out two major core algorithm updates recently:
- E-E-A-T: This stands for experience, expertise, authority and trust and prioritises websites demonstrating these factors in their content.
- Helpful Content Update (HCU): This prioritises websites creating people-first content written for humans.
Before these 2 Google core algorithm updates, many SEOs focussed heavily on creating optimised content using LSI keywords. Even today, many SEOs continue to do this without adjusting to Google’s recent algorithm changes.
At Aperitif Agency, we’re experts at creating people-first content demonstrating E-E-A-T. Our content is helpful for users and optimised for search engines, a challenging skill to master.
