About Five Good Friends

Five Good Friends is an Australian home care provider helping older Australians and people living with disability live independently, offering personal care, overnight support, domestic assistance, and NDIS-funded disability services

The Challenge

Five Good Friends operates in a category with two very different audiences and a conversion funnel that most PPC accounts aren’t built to see:

  • Family decision-makers, typically working women aged 40 to 64, search in a crisis state while caring for an ageing parent.
  • Independent seniors researching their own care are more deliberate and strongly prefer calling over filling out a web form, meaning a large share of genuine conversions was going untracked.

Government approval for aged care funding can also take several months, so campaigns optimised purely for form submissions were acquiring prospects who were a long way from becoming paying members.

Five Good Friends needed to grow conversion volume while reducing cost per conversion, and to do it by identifying prospects who already had government funding assigned rather than by chasing raw enquiry volume.

The Approach

We rebuilt the account around four core pillars:

  1. Granular intent segmentation: Google Ads campaigns were restructured from a volume-first architecture into tightly targeted clusters. Performance Max ran separate asset groups for Full Service and Self-Managed offerings, each with creative tailored to audience type and care needs.
  2. Call tracking and attribution: We deployed dynamic call tracking to attribute every phone inquiry back to its exact keyword, ad creative, and campaign, closing the blind spot created by seniors’ strong preference for calling over web forms.
  3. Funding-stage conversion tracking: The entire measurement framework was rebuilt around funding maturity rather than form fills, segmenting leads as Self-Funded, Home Care Package assigned, Already Have Funding, or Switching Providers.
  4. CRM Integration and audience-specific creative: Offline conversion data was connected to create a single source of truth linking digital spend to actual member acquisition, while creative was written separately for each audience: urgency-led messaging for time-poor family decision-makers, and deliberate, trust-building messaging for independent seniors.

The Results

In under a year, Five Good Friends’ acquisition performance transformed:

conversion volume growth YoY
+ 0 %
cost per conversion reduction YoY
- 0 %
cost per member reduction in the disability services stream (90 days)
- 0 %

Lead Quality Improved Sharply Alongside Volume

Two in three aged care enquiries now arrive with government funding already assigned, rising to four in five for brand campaign enquiries, and the lead-to-enquiry conversion rate reached 71%.

The Disability Services Stream Saw The Sharpest Turnaround

Rebuilding tracking around funding-stage milestones surfaced that funded prospects converted at a dramatically higher rate than raw volume metrics had ever revealed, driving the reduction in cost per member.

Five Good Friends now has a measurement foundation built around what truly matters commercially, in one of Australia’s most emotionally complex and regulated healthcare categories, with a scalable framework to support continued growth across both aged care and disability services.
